Pillar Point & of Montreal Impressive Performance Art
"A Magical and Entertaining Escape" can briefly describe the live performances by Pillar Point and of Montreal. The eclectic groups performed their on-stage antics at the Culture Room on April 1st. of Montreal’s live performances are composed of enthralling music and hilarious acting. Their actors were dressed in comical costume designs such as voluptuous poodles with large breasts and Donald Trump masks. Pillar Point and of Montreal’s picturesque live show are fascinating and moving.
Pillar Point introduced the audience to the superb live entertainment that was to bestow them. Pillar Point’s latest album, “Marble Mouth ,” was produced by Kevin Barnes (of Montreal.) His musical influences are apparent in this album with electronic synthesizers and dynamic instrumentals. The pioneering album is fresh, funky, and sexy. The entrancing songs are beguiling and striking which cause the listener to playfully repeat the song lyrics.
Scott Reitherman, lead singer of Pillar Point, was mysterious and handsome in a loose satin blue suit. He sang deep gorgeous vocals and performed heavily on the bass. The percussionist performed the rhythmic dance beats on the keyboards and electronic drums. The musicians were hidden beneath dark lighting and interactive videos on the background projector. Kevin (of Montreal) adorned a pastel pink V-neck chiffon blouse and tight white pants with green pockets. He later changed his outfit in the encore for a blue poncho.

Kevin plays each instrument on the album and ties the songs together with individual instruments. He crafts a complex musical arrangement on each album. His earlier albums are diverse ranging from Folk Pop to Electronic Pop. His brother, David Barnes, and artist, Tim Roots, contribute drawings for the album artwork and band memorabilia.
For example, Kevin's approach to create his latest album, “Lousy with Sylvianbriar,” was to develop the album in San Francisco. He ventured through the city for inspiration and he prepared the music in a bohemian apartment. Also, he was inspired by the literature of Cormac McCarthy and Sylvia Plath. The album, “Lousy with Sylvianbriar,” is a sporadic and unconventional as the group's live show.
