Valentine's Day with Handsome Ghosts and flor

By day, the Rivoli serves as a cozy restaurant in the heart of Queen West in downtown Toronto. By night, it turns into a lively pool and concert hall. Massachusetts’ duo, Handsome Ghosts, and Oregon based synth-pop band, flor, took the stage on Valentines Day with a sold out show.

HANDSOME GHOST

Handsome Ghosts were up first, starting the night off with a simple and intimate performance with Tim Noyes on vocals and Eddie Byun on keys. The set began with “Eyes Wide,” “Stutter” and “Weight of It All” off of their 2015 “Steps” EP which transitioned into some of their newer releases, “Better Off,” and “beauty / bends:” from their “Welcome Back.” Aside from racking up over 57 million streams on just Spotify alone, the band has an impressive track record under their belts, having been on the road with MisterWives, BORNS, The Mowgli’s, X Ambassadors, Grizfolk, Great Good Fine OK and others.

FLOR

Up next, flor’s set contrasted their opener’s cozy set with multiple strobe lights to accompany their upbeat vibe. The band maintained a high energy from the first song to the last, it was hard for the audience to not want to stay on their feet and dance along with Zach, McKinley, Dylan and Kyle. The members also made sure to engage with their fans in between songs, even making a few Valentines Day jokes. The audience jammed out to “heart,” “warm blood,” “hold on,” and “overbehind” from the “come out, you’re hiding” album which came out just this year. As a treat, the band also covered Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart,” creatively incorporating their own unique sound.

Be sure to catch Handsome Ghosts and flor as they continue their time on the road across America.
