Lydia Concludes Tour at the Legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles
CHERRY POOLS
The night opened with Cherry Pools. Their evidently handmade banner which declared “NO GODS, NO LABELS, NO GENDER, NO SEXUALITY, NO GENRES, NO RELIGION,” felt quite empowering. Everything about this band, from lead singer Martin Broda’s bright blue hair, to their captivating music, put a smile on every member of the audience.
JARED AND THE MILL
This sense of positivity carried on throughout the night with Western indie rock band, Jared & the Mill following their performance. Lead singer, Jared Kolesar described feeling at home in Los Angeles, despite being from Arizona. This could be sensed even as a member of the audience, as if I had grown up listening to them, when it actually was my first time hearing anything from the band. Similarly, the band’s music is the type that evokes a lot of love, and this could be felt throughout the room. The band brought out Cherry Pools and Lydia and asked the audience to hold each other and chant something along the lines of “I love you and you love me, and that’s just the way it is.” I caught a clip of the end portion of this part of their set.
LYDIA
Then it was time for fellow Arizonian band Lydia. They projected compiled clips of aesthetically pleasing videos, from iconic movie scenes to breathtaking nature shots, over their tour banner. For those who are unfamiliar with the band, this little detail perfectly encaptures their style. Each member of Lydia seem like genuinely good people who love what they do. None of them could stop smiling through their entire set, which then radiated positivity onto the audience.
