Rilo Kiley's ‘Sometimes When You’re On, You’re Really F**ing On Tour*! finale at the Greek Theatre

Rilo Kiley returned to the stage during their ‘Sometimes When You’re On, You’re Really F**ing On Tour*!’ The group brought joy to their devoted fans by performing their heartfelt tracks from albums: ‘Take Offs and Landings,’ ‘The Execution of All Things,’ ‘More Adventurous,’ and ‘Under the Blacklight.’ Also, the group released a reissue of their 2002 album, ’The Execution of All Things.’ The group performed their tour finale at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The artists shared that Los Angeles was the perfect place to start their tour and end their tour which is where the group formed. The artists expressed the gratitude to their dedicated fans and shared that it was a dreamy and magical night in Los Angeles.

During their performance, the group invited singer-songwriter, Waxahatchee, on stage with them to perform the song, ‘With Arms Outstretched.’ Waxahatchee opened the show for Rilo Kiley at the Greek Theatre. Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley commented that Waxahatchee is a legend.

Throughout the show, Rilo Kiley shared their musical background, Jenny Lewis shared that they had written over 100 songs. Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett met through mutual friends in Los Angeles, and they originally started as a two-piece band and then other band members later joined the group. The group played their first show at the music venue, Spaceland in January 1998.

Jenny Lewis shared that Los Angeles was her home and that she grew up in the Valley. She commented that she got prints from Z Gallery and one of the prints said, ‘I’ll Take LA over New York,’ and vice versus and she hung the prints in her home. She mentioned that this inspired her and Blake Sennett’s next song, ‘Let Me Back In,’ about Los Angeles.

When the band members returned to the stage, Jenny Lewis walked back onto the stage as if they were at Prom, Lewis walked arm in arm with Blake Sennett, and Lewis commented she felt as if she was attending prom and looked over to her bandmates and commented, ‘We really did it!’ Lewis also commented that the ‘The world is crazy, but we have each other.’ It was a somber event as it was the last show by Rilo Kiley. They thanked their crew and welcomed unto the stage their tour manager. They shared that their band name, Rilo Kiley, came to Blake Sennett in a dream. They performed their last song, ‘Pictures of Success,’ which was about being a recluse in Los Angeles.
