Skating Polly to Kick Off Winter Tour This Friday
Whether you call it alt-rock, indie-pop, or DIY punk, viewers and fans alike agree that whatever the genre mashup title reads, Skating Polly will sound like none other than, well… Skating Polly. Raised on the wisdom of 70’s punk and 90’s alt-rock, step-sisters and original founding duo, Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse, were always surrounded by good sources of inspiration. Yet, they’ve also held onto a special pride stemming from fostering their own unique musical flair.
This love of music came early in the sisters’ lives and Mayo and Bighorse have indeed come a long way since their formation back in 2009. What started as a family Halloween party performance has blossomed into a whopping career and impressive tour schedule with the band raking in over 100+ shows this year alone.
Now, in the wake of high-profile gigs such as festival appearances at Riot Fest and The Capitol Hill Block Party, as well as a dream European tour with singer-songwriter and actress, Kate Nash, Skating Polly will soon be on the road once again.
The band’s Winter Tour is set to begin in just a few days with the first performance scheduled for The Shakedown in Bellingham, WA on November 30.
The North American cross-country trek will welcome Skating Polly’s new permanent third member, and brother, Kurtis Mayo, on drums as well as feature an exciting lineup with the all-female punk-rock trio, Potty Mouth, as the band’s official opener.
In addition, Skating Polly will also have a new arsenal of songs to blast out to eager fans. Coming off the May release of their fifth full album, The Make It All Show, Kelli Mayo described the inspiration behind the eleven-track collection stating, “You can probably guess a lot of acts that we love, but we’re able to keep making music that always sounds like us”. In other words, fans will be in for a distinctly Skating Polly style treat.
Skating Polly and Potty Mouth will make a local California stop at Space San Diego on December 9. Make sure to get in on the fun and purchase your tickets here!
