G-Eazy's “The Beautiful and Damned Tour” Takes on Toronto
The Beautiful and Damned Tour took Toronto by a storm with two sold-out nights in a row inside REBEL nightclub on March 13th and 14th. Fans of all ages, decked out in the sleek, black tour merch, lined up early on in the evening in anticipation for the Oakland, California based rapper. Phora and SoundCloud star Trippie Redd took the stage first, opening up the night for the main act.
Despite being an hour delayed of his initial set time, fans waited patiently nonetheless in restless anticipation. Finally, the room faded into complete darkness, with a prelude of girlfriend Halsey’s voice captivating the audience introducing “Ladies and gentlemen, the Beautiful and Damned” over an illuminated screen titled “Act I: The Beautiful.”
G-Eazy then emerged from a thick cloud of smoke dressed in an all-black ensemble, kicking off his set with the song in which the tour was named after, “The Beautiful and Damned.” Bursting with energy, the rapper clearly had no trouble making it up to his fans for his late appearance as they chanted his lyrics in almost perfect unison to “Legend” and “Pray for Me.” Even the security guards seemed to be having a good time, silently mouthing the words to themselves.
The show in itself was truly a multidimensional experience, accompanied by carefully selected cinematic clips that accompanied each of his tracks. Proceeding with “Act II: Eazy” and “Act III: Epilogue,” G-Eazy satisfied his die-hard fans by performing a combination of older songs such as “You Got Me” and “When It’s Dark Out” as well as his recent hits “Him & I,” “Me, Myself & I” and of course, “No Limit.”
The first night was no doubt a success, as fans left the show buzzed from the adrenaline of G-Eazy’s performance with all smiles. Those who were attended were fortunate enough to have witnessed something truly special and will be talked about until the next time the rapper returns to Toronto.
