The Lumineers BRIGHTSIDE Tour

If you haven’t heard of The Lumineers yet, now is the time to take a deep discography dive. This American Folk Rock band based out of Boulder, Colorado brings it all. From rich vocals with strong instrumentation to immaculate stage presence.

THE LUMINEERS

Founders, Wesley Schultz (lead vocals and guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, piano) began writing and playing small shows around New York City, but it wasn’t until after their move to Denver, Colorado and the release of “Ho Hey” that things really took off. The band has since been signed to Dualtone Music Group and went from living in motels and out of their cars to making the dream a reality through headlining tours, and even making an appearance on Saturday Night Live. The Lumineers self-titled debut album was released in early 2012 which led to sold-out shows and the album peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Their second album, “Cleopatra” was released in 2016 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 that year. Since their start, the band has played sold-out shows all around the nation, played incredible festival sets and has toured Europe, the UK and more.

Brightside is their nine-track fourth studio album that was released January 14th, 2022 with “A.M RADIO” and “WHERE WE ARE” being some of our personal favorites. The album bridges a tender balance between moments of doubt and helplessness to the glimmers of hope that many can relate to. Current additional tour members include Stelth Ulvang on piano, accordion and guitar, Byron Isaacs on bass, Brandon Miller on guitar, mandolin and percussion, and Lauren Jaconson on string, piano and vocals.

CAAMP

On May 20th, 2022 they performed at a packed iThink amphitheater in West Palm Beach. It was the second stop of the tour with Caamp as their supporting band. It was a rainy evening in WPB as guests trickled in with their umbrellas and raincoats and hopes that lighting was going to put a halt to the night. Caamp played a short set and opened with “So Cool”, played a Cotton Jones cover and three other songs before closing with “Officer of Love”. Unfortunately, the downpour put a halt to the evening and delayed the Lumineers’ set about 30 minutes before they were able to take the stage. Their energy on stage was nothing short of magic as they interchanged between instruments, the drummer running across the stage to play the piano, a wild and barefoot Stelth jumped between platforms, played the keys with his feet and even stood his head at one point. The crowd was captivated. Some swayed with smiles across their faces, others belted the lyrics and some were deep in the feels. Fan favorites like “Cleopatra”, “Slow it Down” and “Ophelia” proved that these were old and loyal fans. The band was down one as a sick Lauren was unable to play the show, but halfway through the set, they took a few moments to call her on facetime so the crowd could say hello and wish her well. To my delightful surprise, the rain didn’t cut their evening short and they performed a twenty-two song (full) set.
