The Psychedelic Triad of Uni, Claypool Lennon Delirium, and Jim James

UNI

Influenced by Andy Warhol’s Factory artistic movement and vintage Glam Rock, Uni, are revolutionizing the way experience music through phantasmagoric music videos, edgy fashion, and mercurial live performances. Their provocative music videos and psych-rock live performance capture camp fashion, vintage fantasy, and artistry. The group channels inspirations from creative icons and artistic movements such as Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground, and The Factory. Signed to Chimera Music, Sean Lennon’s record label, the trendsetting group features artists: lead singer, Jack James, bassist and singer, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, and lead guitarist, David Strange. The New York artists are connected to their roots while they aspire to innovate and energize their local music scene. Their vision for their city is to create a similar environment to Andy Warhol’s Factory by creating an avant-garde platform for local artists and musicians.

Uni incorporates the glamour of Psychedelic Rock, and edgy independence of Punk Rock into their image and sound. Their controversially themed music videos are directed by Muhl. In their latest music video, “D.D.T,” the storyline centers around a notorious bio-terrorism chemical inflicted on innocent bystanders as a pesticide which inflicts cancer and destroys wildlife. The theme of the music video centers around modern occurrences of how technology can seem as a gain but in the end poisons society.

When Uni isn’t touring or working on the music vision, Charlotte Kemp Muhl and Jack James focus their artistic endeavors through modeling. Muhl is a successful editorial and runway model. She has been featured on campaigns for Maybelline, D&G, and music videos for Aerosmith and Young Love.

Uni will be embarking on their Summer tour with Les Claypool and Sean Lennon’s project, the Claypool Lennon Delirium. Their tour starts on August 9th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Scientific facts, constant comedy, colossal Progressive Rock, and the skillful musicianship of The Claypool Lennon Delirium are only a fraction why Claypool and Lennon’s live performances should not be missed. The artistic collaboration between Les Claypool and Sean Lennon is seamless in their modern Psych-Prog-Rock ensemble. Their psychedelic music ranges from heavy melodies to experimental funk to Psych-Prog Rock. Their live music seems effortless due to their close friendship and love for all things strange.

As Les Claypool has stated in interviews, The Claypool Lennon Delirium beginnings started when Sean Lennon toured several Summers ago with Primus and Sean Lennon’s group, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. The musicians had instant chemistry and began jamming with each other backstage. Les Claypool invited Sean Lennon to join him in his studio, Rancho Relaxo, to elaborate on their musical comraderies. From the recording session, the duo kicked off their collaborative musical journey and created their first record, “Monolith Of Phobos..”

Their chimerical songwriting was inspired by their unique attraction to weirdness. From researching strange topics from newspapers and the internet, .the title and album of “Monolith Of Phobos” was developed. In recent interviews, Sean Lennon shared that the title was inspired from a moment when he showed Les Claypool footage of Buzz Aldrin saying there was a monolith on the moon of Mars, on Phobos, the moon of Mars. Since then the duo share strange topics and articles to develop ideas for their lyrics.

Their exploratory nature has also been seen in Sean Lennon’s music projects from his Melodic Indie Rock solo albums from his contemporary music beginnings to Experimental Psych-Folk Rock in his project GOASTT with partner Charlotte Kemp Muhl. Les Claypool in parallel with Sean Lennon has also mastered psychedelic artistry in Primus and other musical projects. Joining The Claypool Lennon Delirium on tour are artists: Paulo Baldi, drummer and João Nogueira, keyboardist.
