Waitin' on the Weeks at Atlanta's Beloved Grunge Hub, The Earl

Rock and Rollers' The Weeks packed Atlanta’s favorite indie-grunge bar venue, The Earl. The energy of  the band gave a performance more well-suited for a much larger stage. With a voice reminiscent of Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill, the four piece outfit filled the venue with their own brand of southern indie-rock.

The Weeks consist of twin brothers Cyle and Cain Barnes (vocals and drums, respectively), Samuel Williams (guitar, vocals) and Damien Bone (bass). Formed in Mississippi in 2006, the band has quickly picked up pace - moving to Nashville, signing with Serpents and Snakes, and even opening for Kings of Leon.

Opening for the Weeks was bluesy rock band Blank Range. (Ironically one of their top songs is titled “Opening Band”). Based out of Nashville the band consists of Jonathan Childers on rhythm guitar, Matt Novotny on drums, Taylor Zachry on bass, and Grant Gustafson on guitar. Their country rock sounds and southwestern style made the perfect energy to start out the evening.

The Weeks took the stage to an uproar of the crowd, flooding around the tiny two-foot stage and swimming with the sound of the music. Lead singer Cyle Barnes made use of every inch of the stage, never staying in one place. His head and his eyes rolled back as he performed fan-favorites such as “Buttons” and “Bottle Rocket”.

The Weeks are continuing their US tour into the summer, hitting major cities such as Louisville, Boston, DC, and Chicago.
