The Charlatans brought their celebrated blend of alternative rock, Britpop and Madchester-inspired sound to The Observatory in Santa Ana, Orange County, on September 3rd, delivering a night that connected the band’s influential past with its continuing musical evolution.

The legendary British group appeared at The Observatory as part of their 2026 North American Tour, with a particularly strong lineup of special guests: The Dandy Warhols and Mercury Rev. The Santa Ana performance marked one of the tour’s Southern California stops before the band continued to the Hollywood Palladium on September 4th and San Diego’s House of Blues on September 5th.

For fans of British alternative music, The Charlatans' appearance at The Observatory was a chance to experience a band whose influence stretches across several decades of indie, alternative and dance-rock.

Formed in the late 1980s, The Charlatans became closely associated with the Manchester music scene and the Madchester movement, developing a signature combination of psychedelic textures, melodic guitar work, danceable rhythms and frontman Tim Burgess' distinctive vocals.

The band's enduring appeal was on full display in Orange County as longtime fans and newer listeners gathered for an evening centered around the group's expansive catalog and latest era.
