Sold Out Party with Alvvays in Atlanta

On October 11th Alvvays set foot on stage to welcome a completely packed floor-to-ceiling sold out show - on a Wednesday night. The hour and the impending 7am alarm clocks didn't seem to phase fans of the Canadian indie new-age band.

The band is made up of vocalist Molly Rankin, keyboardist Kerri MacLellan, guitarist Alec O'Hanley, bassist Brian Murphy, and drummer Sheridan Riley. To the glee of their fans, the band's second album, Antisocialites, came out September 8th. The bands first self-titled album came out in 2014, giving fans a good three years to sit and ponder what else Alvvays had to say.

Lead singer Molly Rankin didn't hit a sour note over the shows 90 minute set time. Her haunting voice and passionate lyrics resonated with the audience, moving some to dance and others to just flat out cry (especially with hits "Marry Me, Archie" and "Dreams Tonight"). The band tried to exit the stage after their too-short initial set, but the pool of eager sweaty southerners wasn't about to let that happen. The five-piece outfit came out for three more songs, never satisfying but always pleasing their dedicated audience.
