America's 'Ride On Tour' at the Pompano Beach Ampitheatre

The Rock group, America, held their ‘Ride On Tour,’ Fall 2024. They performed concert dates throughout California in November and Florida in December. They performed in Pompano Beach Ampitheater in Pompano Beach, Florida on Friday, December 6th. The music venue was filled with concertgoers excited for the live performance. They lined up at the refreshment stands to purchase beverages and various food selections from the food trucks and stands.

South Florida music fans arrived right on time to their seats and traveled the distance from cities such as Miami. Florida natives, Surfer Blood, performed the opening set of the show. After Surfer Blood’s set, the band, there was a brief intermission, and America’s band members walked upon the stage around 8:50 pm. They performed started of the performance with the guitar infused track, ‘Tin Man.’ America performed a mixture of songs from their Greatest Hits discography and performed covers of songs that inspired them.

Dewey Bunnell, founding member of the group, America, introduced the band members, their crew, and sound engineers during their song intermission. Bunnell provided background on the band’s history from their origins, founding band members, and the music that inspired them. America performed some of their favorite cover songs such as ‘Cinnamon Girl’ by Neil Young. He informed the audience that the band members were originally from London, England. Also, he commented that they were children of parents in the military.

Bunnell recalled how they received early releases of music coming from America. He mentioned early concerts they attended such as The Who, Fleetwood Mac, and more. After the discussion, America carried on with the performance and performed a mixture of classic songs, songs about California, and folk songs from their discography.
