Animal Collective Time Skiffs North American Tour at Revolution Live

As colorful lights projected and graced the vibrant backdrop behind them, Animal Collective wasted no time diving right into their performance. The melodic vocals and synth carried throughout the room, as eclectic guitars, drums and bass filled the venue with a rich sound. It was hard not to become immersed and entranced in the performance that they brought to the stage. Their experimental nature made for a bit of a different experience seeing them live than hearing them on record.

The Baltimore band effortlessly moved from song to song with swirling colorful sounds and transitions, blending each song harmoniously into the next. They played a mix of tracks, starting out with “Passer-By" and “Bluish,” to songs “Dragon Slayer,” “Wide Eyed” and “We Go Back.” Most of which were off their latest record “Time Skiffs.”

I’ve never seen Animal Collective play live before, and I must say it was a cool and interesting experience. From the trippy light show to the experimental pop psychedelia sounds, these guys were really tight and played really well together. Their chilled laid back presence and vibe on stage, created for a nice mix and contrast to their sometimes haywire tracks.
