That's Entertainment with Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, Kevinseconds, and The Selecter
DROPKICK MURPHYS
Dropkick Murphys and Rancid have set out on their Boston to Berkeley Tour, and I caught up with them in Denver Colorado at Sculpture Park. Not merely showcasing these two iconic bands, the tour also includes the UK two-tone flavor of The Selector, and the folkier sounds of Kevin Seconds (of 7Seconds).
Starting the night off, Kevin Seconds took the stage, bringing the audience together and setting the mood for the night -- together, smiling, and bringing fantastic emotion. While one might not necessarily think that this cross section of artists makes the most sense, Kevin's acoustic stylings, both of his singer/songwriter project, as well as reworked 7Seconds songs gave the night an intimate beginning, making a perfect segway into The Selecter's high energy set.
KEVINSECONDS
Coventry UK based two-tone band The Selecter then stepped up the night, bringing high energy, a full stage, and contagious smiles. Making music since 1979, (with a few breaks and changes) The Selector features amazing front persons Pauline Black and "Gaps" Hendrickson, who got the large crowd on their feet and dancing in the waning light of the evening.
THE SELECTER
Iconic Boston Irish punks, Dropkick Murphys then took the stage, capturing the energy created by The Selecter and ramping it up even further. Bringing both new songs, and tried and true favorites, Dropkick Murphy kept the crowd singing, dancing, and begging for more.
RANCID
Closing out the night had Tim Armstrong powering through an amazing set with Rancid, and a crowd that never stopped. Finishing out the night Rancid and Dropkick Murphy took the stage together with a powerful joint encore filled amazing covers such as the Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues.
