Future Islands' 'People Who Aren't There Anymore' Album Tour at the House of Blues Anaheim
Baltimore Rock group, Future Islands, are currently on tour for their latest album, ‘People Who Aren't There Anymore.’ The group performed to a near sold-out show at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. Hip-Hop artist, Open Mike Eagle, kicked off the show at the Orange County music venue. He sang and performed various mixes on his elaborate DJ setup. Future Islands followed and the center stage was set with various simplistic lighting devices.
In the dark lighting, the band members stepped onto the main stage for the opening of the first song, ‘King of Sweden.’ Lead singer, Samuel Herring, expressed his gratitude to the audience and asked them if this was first time seeing Future Islands perform live. Herring shared the group had been together for 19 years and have performed over 1,500 shows. He provided the audience with a background and meaning of each song. He shared that the song ‘Ran’ is about roads in between, ‘Peach’ is about having something to hold unto, ‘Light House’ is about when someone tells you something you do not want to listen to, and ‘Give Me the Ghost Back’ is about having trouble sleeping.
Herring entertained the audience with his performative dance moves and engaging facial expressions. He performed mindful movements from deep breathing and evocative hand gestures. The displays of these mind-body activities brought the focus of the audience’s attention to the main stage. Herring in heavy perspiration danced, jumped, and moved across the stage. He stated how he could feel the happiness expressed from his fans. Herring would reach and sing up front to the crowd.
Future Islands performed various songs from their last album release and fan favorites such as ‘A Dream of You and Me,’ ‘Seasons (Waiting on You),’ and more. Future Islands’ concert left fans with an emotional and gleeful music experience. For more information on Future Islands and upcoming tour dates, visit their website.
