THE DARKNESS

Southern California concert goers crowded around the main stage at the Observatory Orange County in anticipation of the Darkness’ concert. The audience celebrated the birthday of Justin Hawkins, lead singer of the Darkness, whose birthday was on March 17th, by handing him presents and a birthday card. The air conditioning of the venue was malfunctioning which caused the steamy Rock-fused performance to become even more heated. Hawkins commented on the intensity and warmth of the room which was caused by the constant momentum, high energy of the crowd, and the broken air conditioning. He ended the show with a comedic encore when he appeared on stage in his black and white briefs, bedazzled midnight leather cap, and vest. He serenaded the devoted audience as a persona of one of the Village People while singing a crowd favorite, "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", at the top of his lungs.

The Darkness hailing from the United Kingdom, the group brings electric energy and jaw dropping high-octane vocals to their memorable tracks and captivating live concerts. The award-winning group have been recognized as Best British Rock Group, Act, and Album by the Brit Awards. Their acclaim to fame was the release of their debut album, “Permission to Land,” which was released in 2003. This album grossed the group high sales with popular tracks such as "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman", and "Love Is Only a Feeling" and these tracks feature high volume streams on Spotify.
