MZ NEON

“If I don’t bleed after a show, it wasn’t a great show” - - Industrial DIY rap artist, Mz Neon, performed at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California alongside Poppy on the '“Never Find My Place Tour.” Influenced by Punk Rock music and fashion, she has developed experimental music which discusses topics of self-love and personal experiences being a transgender female. She is spreading an influential message through her music and inspiring audiences to be openly proud and fearless about themselves. Her onstage persona and style showcased her Punk Rock aesthetics which is reminiscent of the 70s New York Punk Rock music scene.

The classic red fashion staples she adorned appear to be as if a collection from St. Marks Place, Trash and Vaudeville clothing store, which was created from influences from the 1970s Rock scene. Mz Neon was influenced by controversial female artists such as Courtney Love and Lil Kim. She admires these artists for their musical legacies and their raw and unapologetic attitude. Through her music, she promotes the one’s self-awareness of celebrating their own sexuality and body positivity.

Mz Neon has mentioned in her personal documentary that Rock and Roll culture saved her life. She began writing music at the age of 14 in her bedroom and continues to focus on the do-it-yourself style of music. Her experimental music promotes transgender culture and highlights body dominance and self-image. For more information, visit Mz Neon’s music page here.

POPPY

Earlier this year, Poppy released a new track, “3.14” and she kicked off her “Never Find My Place” tour in March 2022. Her tour is taking place throughout the United States through May 26th. She performed two initial tour dates in Northern California and Southern California. Poppy’s stage layout foreshadowed a mesmerizing show as a hypnotizing black and white spinning wheel spun in the background which caught the eyes of the onlooking concertgoers. Devoted fans recited her lyrics while weeping in joy of seeing their favorite artist. The concert performance was reminiscent of the Scandinavian heavy metal music scene due to the band member’s foreign fashion style and thick and thunderous electronic sounds. The band members work dark European styled fashion attire and performed piercing emphatic beats from their gigantic drum set and sleek bass guitars.

Poppy’s music embodies intimate lyrics with her appealing vocals blended with monumental heavy instrumentals. She demonstrated stunning vocal flexibility as she transitioned from her soft singing and high-pitched speaking voice to aggressive heavy metal shrieking. Akin to her own music style, Poppy has shared her musical interests include Japanese Noise Rock music, Heavy Metal music by The Craft, and vintage classic Pop music by Lesley Gore.
