San Diego Native Kara Connolly Brings Personal Lyrics and “Girl-Next-Door” Charm to the San Diego County Fair

Born and raised in La Jolla, and based in Los Angeles, California, charismatic singer/songwriter Kara Connolly, had spent many a childhood day at the San Diego County Fair. But this year, it was finally time for the young artist to skip the fried oreos (or not!) because the spotlight was once again calling her name.

For as she took to the Coors Stage on June 1, to the applause of the local crowd, it came as little surprise that Connolly felt at home, not only as an attendee, but as part of the main event itself.

No stranger to selling out iconic venues such as the Hotel Cafe or making appearances on KUSI News’ Good Morning San Diego, Connolly’s quick assent in the music industry can be attributed to hard work, a bubbly personality, and of course, catchy tracks that simultaneously reveal personal stories and universal messages alike.

Touching upon themes ranging from romance to self-empowerment, Connolly’s debut album, Life in Rear View (released May 17 and mastered at Capitol Records), draws listeners in to a world of warm guitar melodies and soaring vocals which compliment her friendly “girl-next-door-type” charm. And between the liberating “Let Me Go” and the sassy but sweet “Nice Guy,” Connolly had viewers on their feet and clapping along to her unique blend of country and folk-pop choruses.

Yet, for true fans, the most exciting segment came toward the latter half of Connolly’s set. Giving the audience a sneak-preview of unreleased track, “Magic”, Connolly spoke to the crowd like old friends at a summer gathering, stating, “I’m not very good at New Years Resolutions. But if I had to pick a word that would represent my year, it would be magic”.

And with an album release party set for July 12 at the Peppermint Club in LA and new music already on the horizon, keep a lookout for this up-and-coming artist, because “magic” seems like a pretty good indicator of anything Kara puts her mind to next.
