YELLOWCARD
Yellowcard performed as the sun began to set at the Greek Theatre. They opened their show with the track, ‘Lights and Sounds,’ which sparked energy in the audience. The band performed various tracks from their ‘Childhood Eyes’ EP and their latest reelase, ‘A Hopeful Sign,’ which was released on February 9th. The release of ‘A Hopeful Sign,’ was a collaborative effort of Yellowcard with Nashville artists, Hammock. The latest release revisits Yellowcard’s classic rock track with a new cutting edging take.
For example, the song, ‘Only One,’ which was renovated into an instrumental piano ballad. Yellowcard closed their show with their popular track, ‘Ocean Avenue.’ California natives relate to this track because of the popular location, ‘Ocean Avenue,’ in Santa Monica, California. However, Yellowcard are originally from Florida and ‘Ocean Avenue’ is a song they wrote about their childhood years hanging out at the beach on Ocean Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. THIRD EYE BLIND
California natives, Third Eye Blind, performed to devoted music fans at the Greek Theatre. Excited fans were eager for their show and were discussing and singing songs that they anticipated Third Eye Blind would perform live. They kicked-off the show with the track, ‘Motorcycle Drive By,’ which the audience sang along loudly to. After the third song performance, lead singer, Stephan Jenkins, asked the audition members to a make a connection at the show with the attendees. Audience members reached out to the person standing next to them at the show.
Jenkins mentioned how he is hoping to release his new album in the near future. Third Eye Blind setup the stage for a cozy backdrop with pillows and fluffy carpet to perform various acoustic versions of the songs. Jenkins mentioned these acoustic tracks were meant for an intimate cafe vibe. He also stated how he was appreciative of the support of his fans and the Los Angeles music scene. He surprised the audience by welcoming singer, Machine Gun Kelly, to perform with them on the track, ‘Slow Motion.’ The band ended the show with fan favorites, ‘Semi-Charmed,’ and ‘How's It Going to Be.‘
