Hometown Hero, Dorothy, Recieves a Warm Welcome at the San Diego House of Blues

DOROTHY

For San Diego locals, hometown hero, Dorothy Martin, is a must see act. And based on the size of the crowd that poured into the San Diego House of Blues on a cold and rainy Wednesday evening, it was obvious that fans clearly felt the same.

Frontwoman of the folk-rock band bearing her name, Dorothy, has indeed come a long way since her San Marcos High School Days. Recently releasing her sophomore album, 28 Days in The Valley, with legendary producer, Linda Perry (P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani), Dorothy has not only crafted a Top 20 Rock Chart hit with her single, “Flawless”, but has also collaborated with country icon, Dolly Parton, as a featured singer on Parton’s latest soundtrack album Dumplin’. Yet, as Dorothy paused to reminisce with the crowd on the first stop of her Freedom Tour, her “girl-next-door” charm seemed to light up the room. And with flying hair, impressive guitar solos, and fan favorite tracks such as “Flawless”, “Who Do You Love”, and “Raise Hell”, the crowd was treated to an exciting night of rock and roll fun.

SPIRIT ANIMAL

Opening the show, Brooklyn-based outfit, Spirit Animal, was quick to win over fans with a slew of heavy guitar riffs and a commanding stage presence. Consisting of Steve Cooper (vocals), Cal Stamp (guitar), Ronen Evron (drums), and Paul Michel (bass), the alt-rock quartet delighted the crowd with songs off their Atlantic Records debut album, Born Yesterday (released August 2018). And making their way down the setlist, “House on Fire”, “Karma”, and the catchy “Yeah!” stood out as clear fan favorites, highlighting the bands energy and spunky tracks.

We can’t wait to see more of both bands in 2019!
